Pensacola’s Gospel & Gumbo is a biennial event that raises money for the Michael E. Green Prescription Fund, to benefit Our Lady of Angels St. Joseph Medical Clinic.
Gospel & Gumbo has become a Pensacola favorite, inviting people near and far to bring their appetites, dancing shoes, and checkbooks for an amazing evening and an excellent cause.
This year’s event promises:
The first Gospel & Gumbo event was held in 2005, spearheaded by longtime supporter Millie Green of Pensacola to benefit the prescription fund created in honor of her late husband, Michael E. Green, who died in 2003.
In its 14-year existence, more than $450,000 has been raised for non-narcotic prescription drugs and laboratory costs.
“Mike loved St. Joseph and would be thrilled knowing that its patients are leaving the clinic with the medicines that they need,” she said. “I knew when we started this it was going to benefit a lot of people. But I had no idea how much joy it would bring me.”
